Well, this employment situation developed a couple new wrinkles within the past two days. First, I have it on pretty good authority that (should I so desire) I can basically just move to Atlanta, where corporate HQ lives, and resume my job pretty much without interruption. Second, I've learned that even if I choose not to do it, the company has (against its better fiscal judgment (big sarcastic air-quotes)) elected to provide thirty days' severance pay to anyone who has not found a new employment opportunity by the time the site closes. So there are two pretty nice cushions that I was not really anticipating.
